Description

A restless youth from the hills of West Virginia, orphaned early, heads west in search of the open range that promises adventure. He apprentices as a bull‑whacker, rides the treacherous trails to Fort Harker, and learns the harsh rhythms of buffalo hunting on the plains. Along the way he brushes shoulders with infamous figures of the frontier, survives stampedes, and builds a reputation as a hard‑hearted, resourceful rider who never shies from danger.

His life reaches a turning point at the ruined settlement of Adobe Walls, where a band of hunters faces a sudden, massive Indian assault. In the heat of the dawn battle, his uncanny marksmanship and quick thinking become a lifeline for his comrades, turning a chaotic showdown into a legendary stand. After the fighting, the seasoned scout settles into the growing community, planting orchards, serving as postmaster and peacekeeper, and watching the once‑wild panhandle evolve into a fledgling civilization.
