Description

A seasoned French officer, now serving as a colonel in the Ottoman court, finds himself once again before the Sultan’s opulent chambers. The ceremony is a study in polished protocol, the same courteous smiles and richly appointed rooms he has seen in Rome and St. Petersburg. Yet the air is charged by the marching guard and the distant call to prayer, reminding him that he is far from home.

In the waiting lounge a striking Turc in a heavily embroidered uniform strides toward him, introducing himself as Mehmed Pacha, chief of the Sultan’s political cabinet. The encounter awakens a memory of a daring escape twelve years earlier aboard the yacht Feuille de Rose, when the officer saved the future pasha’s life. Now, the pasha hints at a debt of honor and the promise of a future reckoning, suggesting that espionage and loyalty intertwine in the shadowed corridors of the palace.

The narrative blends witty diplomatic banter with the intrigue of secret services, inviting listeners to follow a tale where past favors may yet shape dangerous alliances.
