Description

A corricolo is more than a carriage; it is a rattling, three‑horse chariot that barrels through the streets of Naples carrying a bewildering crowd of monks, countrywomen, husbands, drivers, street‑urchins and nameless children. The opening paints the vehicle as a swirling micro‑universe, each passenger clinging to his or her place while the horses sprint in a frantic duet of power and panic. With a tone that blends dry observation and playful exaggeration, the narrator turns this chaotic tableau into a vivid portrait of everyday life in a bustling port city.

Beyond the noisy tableau, the story follows the peculiar ensemble as they navigate mishaps, chance meetings, and the occasional tumble that scatters them across the cobbles. Their tangled interactions hint at deeper social currents, turning the corricolo into a moving stage for humor, compassion and the unexpected twists of human (and equine) destiny. Listeners will be carried along, feeling the dust, the laughter, and the fragile bonds that hold this unlikely troupe together.
