Description

A vivid tableau unfolds in early nineteenth‑century New Orleans, where exiled nobles, daring soldiers, and colorful locals mingle in smoky salons and crowded docks. At the heart of the drama is the enigmatic Jean Durand, a wounded officer whose restless spirit draws him toward the charismatic pirate who will one day be known as Jean Lafitte. Amid whispered conspiracies and a looming French summons, the young Durand finds himself entangled with the beautiful Mariana, whose loyalties sway between family duty and hidden desires.

The play weaves political intrigue with personal ambition, as rival factions—Spanish courtiers, British captains, and the French empire—scramble for control of the Gulf’s lucrative trade routes. Tensions rise when Durand’s daring plan to aid a secretive venture collides with the moral expectations of his aristocratic hosts. Listeners are invited into a world of dueling honor, forbidden romance, and the promise of high seas adventure, all set against the vibrant, restless backdrop of a city on the brink of transformation.
