Description

In this lively continuation of a satirical tale about the machinations of a marriage‑making enterprise, the eccentric Barbedor finds himself entangled in a web of petty schemes and swaggering bravado. When a blue‑clad conspirator spins a bogus newspaper article about a governmental investigation, Barbedor’s gullibility is put to the test, and the scene erupts into a chaotic mix of whispered threats, clumsy bribery and sudden bursts of uneasy confidence.

Meanwhile the witty interlocutors—Garnier, Lagard and the ever‑present Marquise—juggle alliances with a blend of flattery and veiled intimidation. Their dialogue crackles with argot and ironic commentary, revealing how personal ambition and hollow loyalty clash in a house where every gesture may mask a hidden advantage. The episode captures the absurdity of a society that trades affection for profit, setting the stage for further intrigues without disclosing the ultimate outcome.
