Description

The story opens aboard a glittering ocean liner that has become a floating salon for the world’s most flamboyant figures: aristocratic ladies draped in pearls, booming American magnates puffing fragrant cigars, and a jittery English gentleman whose reputation for breaking records is matched only by his nervous chatter. In the grand smoking lounge, the air is heavy with a blue‑gray haze of cigar smoke while soft music drifts from a distant ballroom, giving the ship the illusion of a lavish club on Piccadilly. Around a crackling fire, passengers exchange polite smiles, sip brandy, and speak in a mix of languages that hints at the varied lives they have left behind on shore.

Beneath the polished veneer, uneasy whispers surface as one character, a seasoned journalist famed for his spiritualist predictions, claims a mysterious “Kitty” has foretold his death—though not at sea. A terse conversation about the treacherous waters near Cap Race adds a note of foreboding, as the seasoned English traveler warns that the Atlantic’s “graveyard” may soon claim the vessel. The stage is set for a tense voyage where luxury, ambition, and whispered omens collide, inviting listeners to wonder which of the glittering guests will be the first to feel the ship’s hidden danger.
