A proud warrior sets out from Bern and soon finds himself trapped between a fierce lion and a massive dragon‑like lindworm. The beast overpowers the lion, and the desperate creature begs the king for help, promising a dazzling shield in return. Diderik hesitates, then summons his courage and charges into the fray, his sword quickly shattered by the creature’s snarling jaws.
The battle drags on through tangled hills, where the king discovers a legendary blade hidden in stone and faces the dragon’s brood. With the lion’s growl echoing nearby, Diderik must decide whether to trust the serpentine foe’s offer of treasure and a hidden bride, or to press on with his own steel. The clash of fire, blood and iron sets the stage for a tale of honor, mythic monsters, and the relentless pursuit of a king’s promise.
