Description

At the edge of a tangled forest, a modest farmhouse overlooks the shimmering Salojärvi. From a high window Valva, a twenty‑year‑old girl with a quiet dignity, watches the fading light turn the hills into gold, while the rhythm of chores and the murmurs of her sisters fill the evenings. The story opens with the household gathering for supper, their conversations drifting between the simple pleasure of nature and the looming obligations of the village church.

Tomorrow the young women of Salovaaran are to walk the forest path to the parish, where they will hear the latest news from the influential Tuomela family. As rumors of marriage, inheritance and the harsh expectations of poverty circulate, Valva and her companions must balance personal desire with the weight of tradition. Listeners are invited to follow their gentle yet tense journey as the quiet countryside begins to reveal the hidden currents that shape their futures.
