JAKIE’S CHRISTMAS
JAKIE HUNTING FOR SANTA CLAUS
JAKIE AT HOME
CHRISTMAS EVE
CHRISTMAS MORNING
Jakie is a bright‑eyed country boy who lives with his grandmother, Mamsy, in a weather‑worn log cabin deep in the backwoods of Alabama. Their simple farm survives on a few chickens, turkeys and a tired old cow, but recent losses to foxes and hawks have left them almost penniless. Despite the hardships, Jakie clings to the stories of a jolly, fat Santa Claus that fill the town’s newspapers and store windows each December. He dreams of the bright lights, the toy‑laden wagons, and the hope they promise to children who have little else.
One breezy afternoon a passing farmer drops a flyer announcing a townwide Santa giveaway, and Jakie snatches it up, his heart racing at the sight of laughing children grabbing gifts. He rushes home, pleading with Mamsy to take him to the celebration, only to be met with the harsh reality that they have no transport and the road is far. The story captures Jakie’s innocent longing and the tug between festive wonder and the practical limits of a humble life.
