Description

In a quiet library dusk settles over an old rabbi, whose voice drifts through Hebrew verses and whose violin transforms the night into a reverent hymn. The scene shifts to his young protégé, David, who returns home bruised by a letter from his sister Marta—a sudden invitation to join her in Chattanooga’s Lookout Mountain. Their conversation reveals a family torn between duty and desire, hinting at the cultural crossroads that will shape David’s summer.

Compelled by his sister’s plea, David prepares for a journey that will plunge him into the bustling life of a Southern town where Jewish and Christian worlds intersect. Along the way he encounters a cast of vivid personalities—a devoted deaconess, a skeptical lawyer, and the enigmatic Herrick family—each challenging his perceptions of faith, friendship, and purpose. The first act sets the stage for a gentle yet compelling exploration of identity, community, and the quiet music that ties past and present together.
