Description

A lively shoemaker named Iivana Ivanoff drifts through his village with a grin as wide as the river that runs past his shop. Proud of his craft and his faith, he spends his days stitching soles while dreaming of a brighter future—one that includes marrying Annushka, the recently widowed daughter of the Durnjakin family. His good‑natured schemes are peppered with the colorful mix of Finnish and Russian phrases that color the everyday chatter of the locals, turning even a simple proposal into a comic dance of words.

When Iivana decides to ask for Annushka’s hand, he enlists the help of his friends and the village’s quirky elders, each offering advice that is as earnest as it is bewildering. A bottle of wine, a few hearty toasts, and a cascade of good‑natured banter set the stage for a celebration that feels both intimate and uproarious. As the festivities begin, Iivana’s optimism and his knack for turning ordinary moments into joyous spectacles promise a story that revels in community spirit, cultural quirks, and the simple thrill of love’s first steps.
