She offers a generous fee to track down the legendary red roebuck, a creature considered sacred by the native Venusians, and insists that the job will be simple because the Preserve lacks guards. Faced with empty pockets, a crumbling shack, and the promise of a fresh start, Regan wrestles with the growing unease of hunting a being that the locals almost revere as divine.

The uneasy partnership propels them into the alien wilderness, where Regby’s expertise is tested against unfamiliar terrain, dangerous wildlife, and the cultural weight of disturbing a holy animal.
