How Freckle Frog Made Herself Pretty
HOW FRECKLE FROG
Marian adores her doll, Big Mary, especially the beautiful clothes Santa Claus brought her. But when a new doll’s trunk makes dressing and undressing Big Mary seem like a game, the doll is left without warm clothes and soon becomes terribly ill. Marian learns to care for her properly, dressing her in the finest blue silk, carrying her outside, and giving her the treasured white muff.
Under the gray rock nearby lives Freckle Frog, a kind little creature who admires Big Mary’s elegant outfit. With a party in the orchard approaching—and her cousin Billy Bullfrog preparing to sing—Freckle Frog longs to look her very best, even though she worries that she is not pretty.
When the Morning Glory Ladies refuse to help, Freckle Frog is discouraged, but her good friend Little Black Spider comes to the rescue. With lace from his web and help from the natural world around her, she begins to discover that imagination, friendship, and a little cleverness can make an ordinary day wonderfully special.
