TABLE
In a bustling workshop where wooden toys come to life, a modest soldier of pine is carefully painted, his crooked nose and misaligned mouth giving him a quirky charm. Equipped with a blue tunic, a yellow rifle and a red pom‑pom, he is placed in a snug box alongside other miniature soldiers, a drum, a cannon and a few freshly varnished trees. The box becomes his tiny world, a stage for the simple, quiet dramas of toys waiting to be sent out.
From his low perch, the soldier watches the shelves filled with painted houses, grazing animals and a shy shepherdess in a green skirt and pink bodice. Their eyes meet and an unexpected tenderness grows, stirring feelings the wooden heart has never known. Suddenly the lid snaps shut, the workshop erupts in hurried footsteps, and the box is hoisted onto a rattling train. As the carriage rolls away, the soldier drifts toward an unknown destination, his thoughts lingering on the shepherdess and the promise of a new, mysterious landscape beyond the workshop walls.
