Description

Hildegarde Grahame is a bright‑eyed, chatty girl whose imagination turns everyday chores into grand adventures. When the large yellow house next door opens its doors to the Merryweather family—Mr. and Mrs. Merryweather, six lively children, a cook, a housemaid, two dogs, two cats, a canary and a mountain of trunks—Hildegarde’s curiosity spikes. She watches the bustling arrival from the hedge, eager to learn every detail and already dreaming of the new friendships and mischief that will follow.

Her keen sense of duty leads her into the neighbor’s house, where she tries to aid the ailing Mrs. Lankton, battling a stifling stove and a stubborn fire. Between button‑hole stitching and whispered gossip, Hildegarde’s world swells with tea parties, garden explorations, and the promise of countless escapades with her new neighbours. Listeners will be drawn into her spirited narration, feeling the warm breezes of the countryside and the buzz of a household on the brink of delightful chaos.
