Description

In the rugged Arizona frontier of the 1870s, a young miner’s son finds himself at Camp Sandy, a remote outpost where soldiers, scouts, and a handful of civilians coexist among the desert scrub. He quickly bonds with Sherry, the sergeant’s spirited son, sharing horse‑riding tricks, rustling rabbits, and stories of forgotten ruins that echo with ancient voices. When a band of Apaches massacres a passing party, the boys’ world shifts from carefree games to a fierce longing to track the culprits and protect their community.

The camp’s officers launch a series of daring scouts, and the restless youngster, armed with his knowledge of the land, volunteers for a nighttime ride toward glowing signal fires on the distant red rocks. Along the way he confronts his own fear, the harsh desert night, and the uneasy promise of crossing into territory no one has dared to tread. Listeners are drawn into the tense early days of a pursuit that will test youthful courage against the unforgiving wilderness.
