Description

In the glittering world of London’s high society, a young South African millionaire, famed for his daring diamond ventures, takes the Haredale family under his wing. The opulent opera house setting introduces May Haredale, the baronet’s beautiful but aloof daughter, whose love of horses and hounds masks a deeper unease about her family’s dwindling fortunes. As the charismatic Copley courts the Haredales, tension mounts between inherited pride and the lure of new wealth.

May’s inner conflict becomes the story’s heart: she must decide whether to cling to the fading grandeur of her lineage or embrace the bold, uncertain future that Copley offers. Set against the lavish backdrop of racecourses and country estates, the novel weaves romance, ambition, and the quiet desperation of a fading aristocratic house. Listeners are drawn into a world where the sparkle of diamonds rivals the darkness of impending loss, inviting them to wonder how far love and duty will carry these characters.
