Description

A seventeen‑year‑old art student arrives in Paris for the first time, wandering the Louvre’s galleries with a head of red‑bronze hair and a notebook full of sketches. Overwhelmed by the masterpieces, she impulsively presses her lips to the cheek of a marble statue, a gesture that feels both innocent and oddly intimate. The kiss leaves her with a lingering wistfulness that follows her back to London.

Back home, the young woman's world shifts from museum halls to the bustling social scene of the McGrath, where a costume ball and lively games introduce her to a circle of modern, outspoken companions. Amid the laughter and flirtation, she discovers a courtship that is as unconventional as her artistic temperament, filled with witty debates and unexpected outings. As she navigates this new terrain, she grapples with the same yearning for beauty that first drove her to Paris, now filtered through the complexities of love and friendship.
