Description

In the shadow of Sheffield’s towering furnaces, a stern patriarch watches his steel empire pulse with heat and iron. Josiah Cornthwaite, a lifelong master of the forge, expects his son Christian to inherit the relentless rhythm of the mills. Yet Christian, tired of the soot‑filled gloom and yearning for something softer than molten metal, struggles to find his place beneath his father’s exacting gaze.

When the bright‑eyed Claire arrives, bringing a splash of city grace to the gritty workshops, Christian is torn between duty and desire. Their tentative friendship offers a glimpse of a life beyond the clanging anvils, while the ever‑watchful Mr. Biron, a shrewd rival, circles the Cornthwaite business with his own ambitions. As sparks fly in both the furnace and the hearts of those who work there, the young man must decide whether to forge his future in steel or in the unexpected possibilities of love and independence.
