Description

A young naturalist named Oliver Lane sets out from Singapore on the brig Planet, eager to explore the lush islands and vibrant seas of New Guinea. He imagines dazzling birds, coral gardens and crystal‑clear waters, a dream shaped by his father’s scientific legacy. Instead, the expedition quickly turns into a test of endurance when a sudden, ferocious storm sweeps the vessel into darkness.

Caught in relentless winds and towering waves, the crew fights to stay on board, their only lifelines the ship’s rigging and each other’s shouted encouragements. With the captain and several men incapacitated, the steadfast mate Ezra Rimmer repeats his mantra, “Never say die,” as they navigate treacherous reefs and an unforgiving night. Listeners will be drawn into the raw tension of survival at sea, the clash between youthful idealism and harsh reality, and the camaraderie that emerges when the ocean threatens to claim them all.
