Description

Set against the warm, fragrant evenings of a vine‑clad castle on the Saale, the story opens with a lively dinner at Erlach Court. Around the table sit the house’s master, Captain von Leskjewitsch, his young son Freddy, the ever‑present Fräulein von Gurlichingen, and two distinguished guests: the ever‑gossipy General von Falk and the enigmatic Baron Rohritz, whose prematurely gray hair and rare smiles hint at hidden histories. The dialogue crackles with wit and subtle rivalry, as each character’s reputation and personal quirks begin to surface.

As the night deepens, the gentle glow of lanterns and the scent of acacia and linden weave a backdrop for whispered confidences and lingering glances. The General’s reputation as a charming idler and the Baron's mysterious past set the stage for gentle intrigue, while the innocent curiosity of young Freddy adds a touch of innocence to the gathering. Listeners are invited to linger in this elegant milieu, where social pretenses and unspoken desires begin to stir beneath the tranquil summer sky.
