Description

Stepping out of the comforts of a settled life, a restless businessman trades his polished office for the raw wilderness of the far north. He joins a ragged crew of gold‑seekers, each drawn by the promise of riches and the lure of an untamed frontier. As the river carries them deeper into the icy wilderness, the stark contrast between their city habits and the primitive demands of the land begins to surface.

Guided by a mixed‑heritage scout who knows the terrain like a second skin, the travelers confront relentless cold, scarce food, and the unforgiving rhythm of survival. Their camaraderie is tested by grueling labor, clashing temperaments, and the ever‑present threat of the unknown. In this first act, the novel sketches the fragile balance between ambition and adaptation, inviting listeners to feel the tremor of each sunrise over frozen water and the quiet resolve that springs from facing an unforgiving world.
