Description

In a sun‑dappled park on the outskirts of Karlsruhe, a frail Major Falk leans on his cane while his young daughter, Dora, walks beside him beneath the fragrant linden trees. Their daily strolls are a quiet ritual of shared stories—tales of war, of a beloved mother long gone, and of a world that seems both fragile and wondrous through a child's eyes. The bond between father and daughter deepens with each step, offering comfort to a man whose chest wound has left him with little hope for recovery.

When the pair returns home, they enter the modest household of Aunt Ninette and Uncle Titus, a scholarly couple who value silence as much as study. Dora, ever curious, tiptoes through their hushed rooms, listening to the soft rustle of books and the occasional sigh of her aunt. Within these gentle confines, the story unfolds with hints of hidden worries and the promise of challenges that will test the fragile peace of their spring days.
