Description

In the heart of Victorian London, a coldly ambitious merchant, Paul Dombey, builds his empire on iron will and precise accounting. He longs for a son to carry on his name, treating his newborn as the cornerstone of his future, while his wife clings to the quiet love that steadies their home. The family’s world is set on a narrow path, where affection is measured against profit.

When the infant Paul is baptized, the ceremony is a public triumph for a father who sees the child as a living ledger of his success. Yet the newborn’s frail health and the shadow of loss that haunts his mother hint at a vulnerability the business‑mind cannot ignore. As the first years unfold, the boy’s upbringing becomes a delicate balance between strict expectations and the tender, often unseen, care of those who truly love him.
