Description

In a moon‑lit garden of terraces and mirrored pools, a desperate duel erupts beneath flickering lanterns. Shadows move like living silhouettes, and a sudden silver beam rises from the water, turning the night into a trembling stage of swords, whispered signals and splintered silk. The clash ends abruptly, leaving a lifeless body and a lingering chill that seems to seep into the very stone of the palace walls.

The surviving Marquis watches the scene unfold, his breath caught in the heavy air of reverie and dread. Around him the gardens pulse with strange lights, red‑tinged fountains and whispering women, while a stern aide urges him to understand that “to live now is only half‑being.” As the moon hangs like a burning ember above the terraces, the Marquis feels an uneasy mix of ambition, fear of confinement, and a yearning for a freedom that slips ever farther from his grasp. The first act sets a tone of surreal violence and inner turmoil that promises deeper mysteries ahead.
