Description

Dick Hamilton arrives at Kentfield Academy carrying the weight of a hefty inheritance and a mother’s high expectations. Though his polished manners and athletic build set him apart, the other cadets view his wealth with suspicion, leaving him isolated in the disciplined world of military training. Determined to prove himself beyond his name, he throws himself into every challenge, from daring spring‑board dives to rigorous drills, hoping actions will earn genuine respect.

Early on, Dick’s confidence is tested by a harsh hazing routine, a meddlesome uncle who brings unsettling news, and a loyal bulldog named Grit who seems to suspect everyone around him. Amid the clatter of drills, a missing soldier’s mystery surfaces, and a sudden fire at the cadets’ society house forces Dick to use his resources for the good of his peers. These incidents reveal his growing courage, quick thinking, and the beginnings of friendships that could reshape his academy life.
