The narrator opens his tale by admitting that living what rises from within has never been easy. He sketches two overlapping worlds from his childhood: the familiar, orderly realm of his parents, filled with rituals, duty and quiet comfort; and a darker, restless space that seems to pulse from within the very walls of his home. This tension already hints at an inner conflict that will shape his path.
At about ten or eleven years old, he enters the town’s Latin school, where the scent of old books and the clang of bells mingle with the unease of hidden mysteries. A striking classmate appears, embodying a strange blend of fear and fascination, and quietly challenges the neat expectations of the boy’s upbringing. Their brief encounters stir questions about identity, destiny, and the hidden forces that guide a young mind toward an uncertain, perhaps more authentic, future.
