De Essentia Patris Et Filii Patrologiae Cursus Completus; Series Latini; Tomus X; Columns 887-888

This Latin theological treatise examines the essential unity of the Father and the Son in opposition to heretical interpretations. Drawing extensively from passages on the Trinity, it follows Gospel and apostolic testimony concerning the Son’s honor, divine nature, relationship with the Father, and the indwelling of Christ and the Holy Spirit. The argument is presented through carefully selected excerpts, preserving the language and force of early Christian theological debate.

An accompanying editorial notice provides valuable context for readers interested in patristic texts and their transmission. It questions the placement and attribution of several materials associated with the work, including letters linked to Augustine and a profession of faith attributed to Alcuin. Attention to chronology, manuscript evidence, and textual arrangement makes this volume suited not only to students of Trinitarian doctrine, but also to anyone exploring how medieval and early modern scholars identified, assembled, and evaluated the writings of the Church Fathers.
