Description

Virginia Valdés McVeagh, known as “Ginger,” has spent her twenty‑two years mastering the sprawling cattle ranch of Dos Pozos. After the loss of her father and the death of her brother Aleck in the Great War, she steps into a role that demands both strength and tenderness, overseeing the herd, the fields, and the everyday rhythm of ranch life. Clad in worn corduroys that echo her heritage, she balances the practical demands of the land with a quiet, lingering grief that colors every sunrise.

When a sudden, torrential California storm turns a remote bridge into a treacherous wash, a group of stranded travelers arrives at her doorstep on a bleak Christmas Eve. Isolated by her own choice, Virginia must decide whether to open her home to these unexpected guests, setting the stage for new connections and challenges that could reshape her solitary world.
