Transcriber’s note
In a bright spring where crocuses burst in purple and gold and lambs dot the newly green fields, a lively flock of crows sets to work. They gather twigs, weave sturdy nests together, and settle in the hush of hedgerows, their cheerful “caw‑caw” echoing across the garden. With patience they lay speckled eggs, take turns warming the brood, and trade morsels of worms and seeds, turning each day into a chorus of careful, communal care.
As the young crows hatch and begin to stretch their wings, the rhythm of the countryside is disturbed. A nearby farmer, irritated by the birds’ constant foraging among his newly sown corn, summons his neighbors and readies rifles, determined to protect his harvest. The crows, bold yet unaware of the looming danger, continue their routines, their lively calls now threaded with an uneasy tension that hints at a clash between feathered perseverance and human resolve.
