Description

In the dusty streets of Montauban, a young officer finds his routine interrupted by a striking woman who bursts from a fortified gateway, clutching at his sense of honor. Her urgent plea and the flash of his own sword set the tone for a swift, unexpected partnership, as she promises both danger and purpose. Their brief exchange is charged with a mixture of curiosity and daring, hinting at deeper loyalties that bind the region’s restless cadets.

Together they plunge into a maze of narrow, dimly lit passages, the stone walls echoing with distant, angry voices. The air is thick with the smell of smoke from a nearby blaze, and every step feels like a test of courage. As they skirt shadows and fleeting light, the pair must decide whether to trust each other’s instincts or fall prey to unseen traps, setting the stage for a romance that intertwines with the fierce, turbulent world of early‑modern France.
