Description

After his mother’s funeral, twenty-year-old Rex Morgan discovers that he is utterly unprepared to face the world alone. Raised in seclusion and educated by tutors, he knows little of ordinary life, work, money, or even his own family history. With no clear means of support and unanswered questions about his absent father, Rex must leave the sheltered existence his mother carefully created for him.

His search for a future soon draws him beyond the familiar streets of Northport and toward the rougher world of the range. There, the trails hold secrets, strangers are not always what they seem, and an inexperienced young man can easily become entangled in danger. As Rex begins his orphan’s odyssey, the seasoned trail detectives Hashknife and Sleepy bring their own brand of humor, grit, and hard-earned insight to a mystery rooted in hidden identities and long-buried affairs.
