Description

A seasoned transport‑rider with an education from England, Philip Hadden has spent years drifting through the wilds of Natal and the Transvaal. Handsome and articulate, he earns the nickname “The Prince” among his rough‑hewn companions, yet his past is marked by restless ventures and a reputation that wanes as quickly as it rises. When a dispute over missing brandy erupts into violence, Hadden is forced to flee his trade routes and seek refuge beyond the colonial frontier.

Crossing into Zululand, he discovers a world where his fluency in the language and customs opens doors to trade and uneasy alliances. Determined to rebuild his fortunes, he seeks an audience with King Cetywayo, hoping to secure permission for a hunting expedition that might restore his standing. The king’s court, with its intricate rituals and political tensions, becomes the backdrop for Hadden’s unexpected entanglement with two striking Zulu lovers.

Their courtship unfolds amid cultural clashes, loyalty tests, and the looming threat of conflict, offering a vivid portrait of love striving to bridge the divide between black and white hearts. The tale balances adventure with a tender exploration of faith, honor, and the fragile hope of harmony in a turbulent era.
