Description

Betty McGuire is a bright‑spirited fifteen‑year‑old who has just inherited her grandfather’s grand estate, Denniston Hall. The story opens on a crisp winter day as she darts down a snow‑covered drive in a brand‑new sleigh, the jingling bells of her pony Dixie echoing through the frosty air. With her mother newly reunited after years apart, the house buzzes with the warm chatter of servants, an adopted brother, and a toddler sister, all settling into their new family rhythm.

As the holiday season approaches, Betty throws herself into planning a festive gathering with her close friend May Fordham. Their excitement over decorations, music, and winter merriment hints at the lively social world Betty navigates, balancing youthful exuberance with the gentle guidance of her mother. The narrative captures the charm of a bygone era, where snow‑kissed landscapes and heartfelt reunions create a portrait of simple, enduring joy.
