Description

In the twilight of King Humbert’s reign, Italy’s political arena hums with whispered deals and half‑lit ambitions. Senator Camillo Morini, a charismatic figure who has risen from modest beginnings to the pinnacle of power, balances public duty with a private hunger for wealth. At his side is General Angelo Borselli, the ever‑calculating “cat’s‑paw,” whose loyalty to Morini is matched only by his knack for turning every opportunity into profit.

When a German arms firm offers a lucrative bribe to secure a contract for soldiers’ boots, Morini must decide whether to protect his nation’s honor or indulge the lucrative temptation that has already made many ministers millionaires. Their uneasy partnership is tested against the backdrop of English lawns, Italian intrigue, and the looming specter of scandal, promising a tense dance of conscience and ambition that will shape the fate of those who dare to play the game.
