BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.
A prosperous merchant once cared for his six children, three sons and three daughters, each educated by tutors. The youngest, known as Beauty for her gentle looks and kind spirit, differs sharply from her two elder sisters, whose pride keeps them aloof from the world beyond lavish parties. When the merchant’s fortunes collapse, he pledges to work the modest country estate, and Beauty chooses to stay by his side, determined to find joy without wealth.
In the quiet cottage, Beauty awakens before dawn, prepares meals, and turns chores into moments of quiet pleasure, reading and humming as she spins. Her sisters, unused to labor, spend their days lamenting the loss of fine clothes and friends, while Beauty’s humility earns the quiet admiration of those around her. A sudden letter announcing the arrival of a ship and its cargo hints at a new turn in their fortunes, setting the stage for the next chapter of their lives.
