Description

Nestled on a breezy hill overlooking the sea, Mulberry Court feels like a world of its own: a leafy enclave where fifty schoolgirls of all ages drift between gardens, hammocks and the wide gravel walk that separates the house from the sea‑kissed shore. The middle of the summer term has already taken on the languid glow of holiday, and the girls trade idle games for whispered speculation about a newcomer arriving mid‑term, a rarity that has the seniors buzzing with anticipation. With Mrs. Freeman and Miss Patience making a grand, horse‑drawn entrance, the mystery of the new girl's background and the oddly formal blue‑dressed room set aside for her becomes the season’s most tantalising gossip.

Against this backdrop, the older girls gather at “The Lookout,” a modest tower turned meeting spot, to plan the Fancy Fair—a charitable fête that promises a break from routine and a chance to show off their organizing flair. As Violet’s nosy curiosity collides with Olive’s stern reminder of propriety, the girls' cliques, rivalries and budding friendships begin to surface, hinting at the subtle dramas that will unfold beneath the surface of their sunny, seaside routine.
