When a corrupt district attorney discovers the possibility of stealing resources from that alternate world, he forces the protagonist into a risky partnership, promising a handsome payout for a single trip. The deal is sealed in a tense office, with cash counted, cuffs jingling, and a promise that the traveler must go “naked” – without any possessions that could be traced.

Crossing into the other dimension feels like being stretched across a movie screen; stomachs churn and everything looks thin and elongated. The traveler soon discovers a version of Earth that mirrors our own, complete with refrigerators, automobiles and apple pie, yet populated by people who value ability over clothing. As he navigates this uncanny world, he must find the goods the DA wants while avoiding the strange hazards of a place where even the simplest transaction can turn deadly.
