Description

In this classic tale of daring science, young researcher George Abbot descends in a steel sphere to the abyss of the Pacific, his windows framing a strange, luminous world of glass‑shaped fish, phosphorescent snails and ghost‑white shrimp. The quiet awe of the deep is broken when his searchlight flickers and the generator stalls, leaving the bathysphere dark and its air‑circulation fan dead. Cut off from the surface by a snapped cable, Abbot must confront the crushing pressure and an eerie silence that masks unseen dangers.

From that moment, the story races into a fight for survival as massive, menacing silhouettes glide through the gloom—creatures the author calls “man‑sharks.” With limited supplies and a dwindling signal, Abbot scrambles to repair his equipment, his ingenuity pitted against the unforgiving ocean floor. Listeners will feel the claustrophobic tension of a lone mind battling the unknown, a blend of early‑20th‑century optimism and stark, marine horror.
