Description

In the shadow of Mont‑Blanc a snowstorm blankets the narrow paths leading to the tiny hamlet of L’Hôpital. Three brothers—André, Jacques and Pierre—spend a frosty afternoon turning the white drift into a battlefield of flying snowballs, their laughter echoing off the cliffs while the world outside freezes. Their carefree skirmish is punctuated only by their mother’s distant call and their father's patient smile, reminding them that warmth awaits at the hearth.

Inside the modest chalet, the family gathers around a crackling fire as a thin broth simmers, and the father gently pulls the children close, recalling his own boyhood games in the same snow. He muses aloud about the fleeting nature of such simple joys, while his wife, weary from a recent injury, worries about the future and the need for the boys to grow into providers. The scene paints a portrait of love and resilience set against a harsh winter landscape, inviting listeners to share in the tender moments that define the Savoyard household.
