Description

A weary businessman, suddenly forced into forced retirement by a mysterious collapse, finds his life upended as doctors prescribe an “Atlantic escape” rather than a return to the boardroom. The narrative follows his reluctant departure, the ceremonial farewells from a powerful combine, and the uneasy promise of a trip that seems more like exile than vacation. Through vivid scenes of ship decks and luxury cabins, the story captures the tension between duty, wealth, and the fragile hope of recovery.

Onboard, he confronts his marriage with Sophie, whose candid questions expose the gap between his public success and private purpose. Their dialogue weaves humor and melancholy as they negotiate a “honeymoon” that feels more like a reckoning, questioning what respect, principle, and ambition truly mean when health and love are on the line. The opening sets a contemplative tone, inviting listeners to ponder how far a man will go to preserve his identity when the structures that once defined him begin to crumble.
