Description

A storm in the Arabian Sea forces the crew of the Guardian‑Mother to rescue three strangers, two of whom turn out to be titled Indian gentlemen with deep knowledge of the subcontinent. Their arrival transforms the voyage, as they share stories, maps and contacts that turn the ship into a floating classroom. The young travelers, already eager for adventure, find fresh purpose in guiding their companions through the ship’s lessons on geography, history and the diverse peoples they will soon meet.

The party soon trades decks for railways, traversing bustling ports and historic cities from Bombay to Calcutta, Lahore to Madras. Along the way, the learned guests host lavish gatherings, recount the great events of Indian history, and introduce the travelers to local customs, wildlife and sports. Their combined curiosity and expertise promise an engaging tour that blends vivid description with insightful commentary, inviting listeners to explore a richly textured portrait of nineteenth‑century India.
