Born into a venerable Portuguese lineage but raised amid the elegant salons of Paris, Jacinto lives a life of comfort far removed from the hills and vineyards of his family's ancestral estate. The bustling city offers him artistic pleasures and fashionable acquaintances, yet the echo of his forebears' lands lingers in his thoughts. When a chance encounter with an old family retainer awakens memories of the Douro, he begins to question whether the glitter of urban life truly satisfies him.

Compelled by a mixture of curiosity and duty, Jacinto sets out for the countryside, bringing his wife Angelina and their small son along for an unfamiliar adventure. Arriving at the sprawling farm, he is confronted with the raw rhythms of rural work, the scent of pine forests, and the unvarnished honesty of the peasants who tend the vines.
