Description

A crippled starship drifts far from home, its vital systems barely holding together after a catastrophic drive failure. The crew—Borden, his wife Ellen, the pragmatic Sattell, and the tentative Jerry—must locate a world where they can plant the emergency seed kit that could keep them alive for the long journey back. Their scans bring them to a barren, sun‑scorched planet orbiting a dimmer star, its surface a vast expanse of sand and occasional stone.

From orbit they spot a tiny, pure white mark on the planet’s northern hemisphere, a speck so small it seems almost impossible to explain. As they draw nearer, the patch swells to hundreds of miles, its surface shimmering with strange, fine lines that defy simple geological logic. Suddenly the white area flickers, shifts to a metallic sheen, and then ignites, triggering alarms and plunging the ship into a defensive shield that drains precious power.

The crew now faces a desperate choice: investigate the enigmatic phenomenon that threatens to consume their already fragile vessel, or abandon the planet and gamble on an uncertain return home. Their struggle blends hard‑science problem‑solving with the awe of an unknown cosmos, inviting listeners to wonder what lies hidden beneath alien skies.
