Sliman Ben Ibrahim
A thoughtful Algerian essayist from Bou Saâda, he is best remembered for his close collaboration with painter Étienne Dinet on books about Islam and Algerian life. His work helped bring local culture and religious history to a wider French-reading audience.

Etienne Dinet
1861–1929
Known for vivid paintings of North Africa, this French artist spent much of his career in Algeria and became especially admired for scenes of everyday life in the region. Later in life he converted to Islam and took the name Nasreddine Dinet, adding another layer to a life that crossed cultures in unusual ways.
