A Spanish Dominican missionary and historian, he spent much of his life in the Philippines and became known for writing one of the early major chronicles of the Dominican mission there. His story blends travel, church history, and firsthand experience from Spain to Southeast Asia.

A Spanish statesman from the Canary Islands, he rose to high office under Philip V and became the first Marquis de la Regalía. He is remembered for his work on royal finance and colonial administration in the early Bourbon era.
