Henrique Ernesto de Almeida Coutinho
1788–1868
A Portuguese poet and critic from the early 19th century, he spent most of his life in Porto and wrote with a strong sense of feeling and reflection. His surviving work includes original poems as well as Portuguese verse translations of writers such as Alexander Pope, Thomas Gray, and Lord Byron.
