Description

The tale opens with the gods gathered on Olympus, where Athena pleads for the wandering hero’s safe return home. Their council sets a divine plan in motion, granting the stranded king a chance to sail back to his island kingdom. Meanwhile, the goddess appears to his son, urging the young prince to step out of his father’s shadow and confront the unruly suitors who have overrun their palace.

On Ithaca, a band of boastful nobles exploits the king’s absence, feasting and courting his wife while neglecting the household’s honor. The son, encouraged by the goddess’s disguise, begins a tentative journey to learn his father’s fate and to rally allies. As the epic unfolds, listeners are drawn into a world where human cunning meets divine whim, and the longing for home fuels both hope and peril.

Tradition remembers this ancient Greek poet as the voice behind the Iliad and the Odyssey, two epics that shaped storytelling for centuries. Even though little can be known for certain about the historical person, the poems linked to him still feel vivid, dramatic, and deeply human.
