A Hungarian writer and journalist of the late 19th century, he became known for short stories and novels that captured everyday life with sharp observation and energy. His career was brief, but his work left a clear mark on turn-of-the-century Hungarian prose.
Born in Kolozsvár on March 7, 1870, Zoltán Thury was a Hungarian writer and journalist. Sources agree that he also worked in journalism, and several reference works note that his original family name was Köpe.
Thury wrote fiction at the turn of the 20th century, especially short stories and novels. Literary reference sources describe him as part of Hungarian prose writing of his era, and his books were later collected in volumes that helped preserve his work.
He died in Budapest on August 27, 1906, at only 36 years old. Even with a short life and career, he remains a remembered figure in Hungarian literary history.
