Born in Paavola on April 30, 1882, he was a Finnish writer, journalist, and locomotive driver. He attended elementary school in his home parish and later studied at Oulu Lyceum from 1895 to 1897.
He also trained as an engine operator and locomotive driver, and worked on the railways as both a fireman and a driver. Alongside that, he worked as an editor for several newspapers, including the Oulu paper Nyyrikki in 1925.
He died in Helsinki on December 15, 1951. What stands out about his background is the mix of literary work and hands-on working life, which gives him an interesting place in Finnish literary history.
